If you are self-employed, the manager of a small or medium-sized business or an association, you are probably not obliged to appoint a DPO.
Who is in charge of compliance?
But then the question arises as to who is in charge of compliance.
The Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA) recently published a recommendation proposing that if a company does not appoint a DPO, it is nevertheless necessary to appoint a person in charge of personal data issues.
We consider this suggestion to be a practical and functional solution so that data protection authorities, interested parties, your customers, etc. can know who to contact for any questions regarding the protection of personal data.
We have therefore adapted GDPRfolder to allow you to designate this person.
