1978, the first law on information technology and freedom in France
1980, OECD guidelines on the protection of personal data
1995, 1st European directive protecting privacy
2013, 1st discussions at European level concerning the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
2016, publication of the RGPD

Launch in 2018

May 2018, RGPD comes into force throughout Europe
Feprabel, the Belgian federation of insurance brokers, decides to offer its members a simple compliance tool
September, GDPRfolder is selected after a competitive bidding process
January 2019, GDPRfolder is offered to Feprabel members
Mars, the consumer version of GDPRfolder is launched
Summer 2019, launch of Dutch, English and German versions

First successes in Belgium since

January 2020, ACERTA, HR partner of hundreds of thousands of companies, chooses GDPRfolder for its SME and professional clients
March 2021, GDPRfolder participates in the SME day organized by the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA)

Jacques Folon, CEO

Jacques Folon is founder and CEO of GDPRfolder Belgium and President of GDPRfolder France.

A lawyer, he holds an agrégation, an executive master's degree in public management, and a doctorate in political science. After a career in financial management and general management, he worked in several law firms and consulting firms, in the field of intellectual property and personal data protection while participating in the creation of several startups in parallel. He then founded GDPRfolder in 2018 in Belgium and GDPR Folder France in 2021.

He has been a university professor and data protection expert for more than 20 years. He has founded several specialized training courses in this field, teaches courses on this subject (ICHEC, University of Lorraine, ESC Rennes School of Business) and has already given more than 200 lectures on the RGPD. He has been assisting public and private organizations for many years in the protection of personal data. He is Data Privacy Officer of several public and private organizations.

Julien Desarnauts, General Manager

Based in Paris, Julien Desarnauts is Managing Director in charge of GDPRfolder France.

He graduated from the HEC business school in 1996, specializing in marketing and strategy. For more than 20 years, Julien has had several career paths. He first worked as a strategy and M&A consultant in France and in the UK. He then held several marketing positions of responsibility within the Quadient Group (European leader in omnichannel solutions, logistics and mail processing), in Canada and in France.

In 2012, he started his own business and after a first adventure, he launched the website HELLOCASA.FR, a platform allowing individuals to buy and make small jobs and DIY services. It was an immediate success and the company signed partnerships with big names such as Darty, IKEA and the BHV. For several years, Julien develops and grows the company with his partners. By 2020, the team had grown to over 100 people and several thousand service providers in the main French cities. Recently, the company joined the EDF Group to become IZI BY EDF, which has become a key player in the field of work and energy renovation.
