The RGPD in the world of business services

The RGPD is imposed on all professions that collect or process personal data. Whether you are a lawyer, accountant, auditor, consultant, expert... you collect personal data from your clients, prospects and people interested in your services.

The fact that you have a professional secret and a professional ethics does not exempt you from complying with the RGPD. Therefore, you must not only comply with the RGPD but also be able to demonstrate it to your clients and to the people you are in contact with.

Showing that you respect privacy will increase the trust that your interlocutors will have in you, especially since the data you collect in the course of your activities are very sensitive data for your customers who entrust them to you.

In your daily work, you prospect, help your professional customers and companies to develop their activity by controlling their risks. It is important to remember that the fact that your activity is only focused on professional customers does not exclude you from the scope of the RGPD. A data is personal when it allows to identify a person including in the professional context.

In the course of your business, you collect and process potentially sensitive data that may involve personal data. This may be in your prospecting work or in the execution of contracts and services. You may be protected by professional secrecy but this does not exclude you from the scope of the GDPR. You must therefore carry out a work of compliance to identify the processing, define their purpose and the legal bases on which they are based. This will then allow you to question the necessity or not of collecting such data or on the duration of conservation, protection and deletion of these data.

GDPR Folder can guide you through this process, which is important to master internally, as it is the core of your business. Beyond the compliance aspect, this is an opportunity to ask yourself the right questions about personal data in your organization and how you can better secure it to limit the risks of leaks and cyber-attacks that could damage your reputation.
