The RGPD in brief
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which has been in force in all EU countries since May 2018, aims to regulate the processing of personal data.
Personal data?
The notion, which is very broad, includes everything that makes it possible to identify a natural person directly or indirectly. This ranges from simple contact details (first name/last name, telephone, email, address, etc.) to identifiers (national identity card, social security number, IBAN, etc.) and even databases (marketing, billing, web, etc.) that make it possible to identify a person by cross-checking. The data may be electronic or paper.
What about the processing of personal data?
These are all the operations surrounding this data: collection, recording, organisation, storage, modification, extraction, use...
Some examples:
customer file, prospecting file, quotation, supplier base, contacts by forms, application follow-up, personnel file, access rights...
